Tourism in Pudasjärvi on a strong path
Overnight stays increased and accommodation revenue exceeded €10 Million
The tourism year 2025 was exceptionally strong for Pudasjärvi. According to reports by Visitory, which monitors tourism development, the overall volume of tourism increased significantly compared to the previous year. Growth was reflected in the number of overnight stays, international demand, and tourism revenue. During the year, a major milestone was reached as accommodation sales exceeded €10 million for the first time.
In 2025, a total of 201,200 overnight stays were recorded in the Pudasjärvi and Syöte tourism area, representing a 20% increase compared to the previous year. Registered accommodation establishments accounted for 128,500 overnight stays (+8%), of which 97,500 were domestic and 31,000 were by international visitors. Unregistered accommodation recorded 72,700 overnight stays, marking a remarkable 50% increase.
Among international visitors, the highest number of overnight stays came from the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. In addition, arrivals from Asia grew strongly: overnight stays by visitors from Singapore increased by more than 160%, with growth also seen from China and several European countries
Winter remains the strongest season, summer visitor numbers on the rise
The winter season maintained its position as the strongest tourism season in the Pudasjärvi and Syöte area in 2025. Established demand, an increase in international visitors, and growth in unregistered accommodation supported the strong performance of the winter season. Winter tourism continues to form the backbone of tourism in Pudasjärvi, providing a stable foundation for year-round growth.
Summer tourism is also showing a clear upward trend. Growth in overnight stays and strengthening demand indicate that the summer season is becoming an increasingly important part of the overall tourism offering in the Pudasjärvi and Syöte area. Alongside leisure travelers, business tourism is emerging strongly, with growth of 34.8% in the region.
Record-rreaking accommodation revenue
Accommodation revenue in Pudasjärvi reached a total of €11.0 million in 2025, an increase of 26% compared to the previous year. Registered accommodation accounted for €8.2 million, while unregistered accommodation generated €2.8 million, showing particularly strong growth. Clearly surpassing the €10 million milestone highlights the growing economic importance of tourism for the entire Pudasjärvi area.
The year 2025 strengthened the position of the Pudasjärvi and Syöte tourism area as a growing destination. A strong winter season, increasing interest in summer tourism, rising international demand, and record-breaking tourism revenue provide an excellent foundation for future years.
Pudasjärvi is rapidly establishing itself as a diverse, year-round tourism destination. This growth enhances the region’s attractiveness, supports local vitality, and creates opportunities for new business activities as well as tourism investments.
